Juniper Communities is an active partner with the two premier national organizations involved in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias: the Alzheimer's Association and the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. We partner with the Alzheimer's Association to provide training and support to both our caregiving staff and resident families. We actively participate in a number of their fundraising efforts such as the annual Memory Walk. Additionally two of our Colorado communities are certified Alzheimer's Association Memories in the Making program sites. Through the association we provide a high quality watercolor painting program with a focus on reminiscence and celebration. Over the years, we have had a number of residents chosen as featured artists for the Memories in the Making Benefit Auction.
Juniper Communities has also been recognized by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America's "Excellence in Care Dementia Care Program of Distinction". The Alzheimer's Foundation of America has awarded three Juniper Village Wellspring memory care communities the Excellence in Care designation; these include Juniper Village at Aurora, Juniper Village at Louisville, and Juniper Village at Williamstown. Only 30 memory care communities nationwide have been recognized as such to date. Juniper Communities, parent company to Juniper Villages, adopted the AFA's standard of excellence for dementia care as a hallmark of its communities to ensure a high level of service to residents, staff and families.
We are proud that our pioneering programs and innovatively designed environments enabled us to be recognized, after careful review and examination, by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America to become one of an elite number of communities that they believe ensure quality of life for individuals with dementia and their families; and one that provides an optimal care setting.
The Excellence is Care certification program offers memory care programs and communities the opportunity to ensure that their dementia care settings meet the optimal care needs of their residents. The program, created with the input of industry experts, consists of a comprehensive on-site evaluation and consultation on strategies to achieve the established standards for quality of care and to sustain performance.
Our ongoing involvement with the Alzheimer's Association and the Alzheimer's Foundation of America will serve to further support and strengthen our mission of nurturing the spirit of life!
